FireSafe Express is in itself a way to become compliant. It is extremely simple to use
and doesn't take very long at all to complete. However, there are other ways
that you can comply with the legislation and some examples are listed below.
Fire Consultant
A fire consultant can come and conduct your fire risk assessment for you. The advantage of this method is that it
doesn't impact much at all upon your time. It can cost more than
other methods and not having an input to the fire risk assessment may mean that you
don't fully understand its principles.
Training Course
A training course can be a good way to learn, provided that the
trainers are competent. Typically a course would cost less than £200 per
person. The advantage of a training course is that someone within your
business should fully understand what to do. The fire risk assessment
will probably take an additional day to then compile.
If you are interested in training courses then the Fire Service Safety Partnership may be able to help. Click here for more information www.fssp.uk.net.
Government Guidance Documentation
This certainly is the cheapest way of becoming compliant but it will
take more time to complete. The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has produced a series of 12
guidance manuals. The manuals provide you with lots of reference information within their 160 pages. You will need to read, understand and then conduct your fire risk assessment. Further information on this can be found at www.communities.gov.uk/fire.
